On Tuesday 22nd March the British Embassy in Moscow hosted a conference on Ecological Urbanism

Participants of the conference included Charles Landry, a British thinker and writer who has formulated the basic principles of the creative cities of the future; Jason Bruges, an architect specializing in light solutions, and John Barrow, Senior Principal of the London office of Populous, who specialises in designing sports facilities.The Conference was organized by the British Embassy in co-operation with Russia’s Union of Architects. The event was supported by UKTI (UK Trade and Investment) and the “Guild of managers and Developers”. The media sponsor for the event was Information Agency “Architektor”.

Russia was represented by Andrey Bokov, President of Russia’s Union of Architects, Alexander Remizov, Chairman of the Council for eco-sustainable architecture of Russia’s Union of Architects, Anna Kourbatova, Doctor of geographical sciences, Director of the Research Institute of Ecology in Moscow and Yaroslav Usov, Member of the Youth Council of the Russian Union of Architects.

At the Conference the participants’ attention was drawn to a “green” approach when creating modern architecture. Experts from Russia and the UK discussed  the use of the latest ecological technologies in architecture and building, modern trends in the sustainable development of cities and innovative approaches to urban planning.
